Types of Boilers
Types of Boilers Boilers are divided in Two main Types Fire Tube Boilers Water Tube Boilers Fire Tube Boilers A steam boiler in which the products of combustion pass through the tubes, which are surrounded by water. Advantages Easy to Clean Relatively inexpensive Compact in size Well suited for industrial applications Operates with oil, gas or solid fuels Disadvantages Not suitable for pressure higher than 30 bar Limitation for high-capacity steam generation (upto12,000 kg/hour) Water Tube Boilers A steam boiler in which the water passes through the tubes and products of combustion surround the tubes. Advantages Available in larger capacities (4,500 – 120,000 kg/hour) Able to handle higher pressures Faster response to changing loads Provide an adequate furnace to ensure complete combustion. Disadvantages High initial capital cost Cleaning is difficult due to design structure No commonality between tubes Bigger in physical size Lower tolerance for water qualit...
